Thanks to all that came for the 'In Harmony 21' concert...

we enjoyed performing for u guys,

we enjoyed playing under Prof James Keene's conducting.

we had learnt a lot from all 4 of them...

the guest trumpeter was a replacement..
as the original trumpeter's wife has taken ill and couldn't come to Singapore.
(We pray that she'll get well soon~)

so Dr James Zingara was invited to come on his behalf.

Dr James Z's session with the brasses was laced with his sense of humour, although he worked more with the trumpets, but we learnt quite a few stuffs on general brasses related matters.

hahaha, more info for me...

learn more, then got more to pass on to my brass students.

___________________________________________________________________

like what some of my friends in the audience mentioned...

"the look of satisfaction on the performers' face after the concert..."

we really enjoyed the concert...
although the full band sessions prior to it was 1 of the most taxing, both mentally n physically.....

quite a number of us had fallen ill during the 1.5 weeks of practice with Prof Keene.

some of them are still recovering on concert night. in fact, 1 of them was still having fever.

the commitments of the musicians, i dun doubt it, especially when we got major projects.

__________________________________________________________________

the guest soloists blown the audiences off with their musicalities and technics...

kudos to Prof(Dr)James Zingara and Prof Lynn Klock...

"soloists and conductors that steps into our band practices, add new life and colors to the band amidst our busy schedules."

i thank them for it.

been a long time since i last conducted a band...

lol...

laoshi couldn't come for nyp alumni practice last sat...

so the temporary president smsed me to stand in n conduct for the practice...

so long nv conduct band...

conduct lessons in school different then conducting band...

when i conduct band, especially a more matured band,
i try to have fun, use more different style n approach to the music...
even to the extreme of doing the opposite of wad is intended in the music...

i wanna conduct music, not notes...
experimenting for different feel n interpretations of the music...

not saying tt the original is not nice...
but it just give musicians performing n audience listening,
a fresh new approach....

it also trains the musicians to be able to adapt to different conductors...
not an easy things, when u're sight-reading a new piece, conducted by a unfamiliar conducting pattern or technic...

but of cos, everyone's a critic, those who loves it will appreciate me.
for those who dun.... pls love other things about me....

lol.....

thanks for the opportunity,
Sasa, and the nyp alumni band~!

In addition to producing an extensive recording series for Mark Recordings, the Symphonic Band was featured on the Masterpiece Series distributed by EMI-Toshiba of Japan. These recordings have been broadcast on National Public Radio in the U. S., as well as radio programs in Asia, Australia, and several European countries.

Mr. Keene is a Past-President of the prestigious American Bandmasters Association and recently completed a term as chairman of the Board of Directors.
